Puzzle Swap is exactly what it sounds like — bring puzzles you're ready to pass on, and go home with ones you're excited to do.

It gives puzzles a second life and helps keep the hobby affordable and sustainable.

There's no selling, no money, no pressure. Just a room full of puzzles and the people who love them.

Show up anytime between 10 am and 2 pm. Bring a puzzle or two you're ready to part with, browse what others have brought, and make a swap. Or just come to look — all are welcome.

Set up your own display and bring as many puzzles as you'd like to share. Tables are free but limited, so you'll need to reserve yours in advance.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • A puzzle swap is a community event or program where people bring puzzles they’ve already completed and trade them for puzzles they haven’t done yet.

  • It gives finished puzzles a second life, keeps the hobby affordable, and helps reduce waste by passing along puzzles that would otherwise sit on a shelf. It’s also a fun, low-pressure way to discover something new, connect with other puzzle lovers, and maybe find your next favorite puzzle without spending much.

  • This is a free event, and there is no charge to attend or to host a table. Puzzle Swap is exactly that: a swap, not a sale, so no selling will take place at this location. Please help us honor this Shepherdstown Library requirement by keeping the event strictly swap-only.

  • Yes you can bring any puzzle! Looking for gently used puzzles preferably with no missing pieces. Be honest if there is a piece missing and mark it on the box.

  • Please make sure all puzzles are placed in a zip-top bag. Do not bring puzzles loose inside the box, and please do not tape the puzzle box closed.

  • Bring a puzzle only if you’d like to trade. This is a no-selling event, so the only way to take home a new-to-you puzzle is to swap one of your own. You’re also very welcome to stop by without a puzzle and just check things out.

  • No RSVP needed to attend, but if you are planning to bring a lot of puzzles (more than 10?) please let us know so we can have a table ready for you.
